Bad Weather Closing Procedures

The Academy may close because of bad weather or emergency conditions. When such conditions exist, the superintendent will make the official decision concerning the closing of the district’s facilities. When it becomes necessary to open late, to release students early, or to cancel school, district officials will post a notice on the district’s website, Facebook and Twitter accounts, and notify the following radio and television stations:
Television:
KTVT – TV (CBS 11)
www.cbs11tv.com
KRLD – AM (1080)
www.krld.com

Radio:
WFAA – TV (Channel 8)
www.wfaa.com WBAP – AM (820)
www.wbap.com

In the case of inclement weather such as snow or ice, due to the large nature of UME Prep’s enrollment boundary and a large portion of the student body coming primarily from six districts, UME Prep will largely make its decision to cancel school based on the following districts: Arlington ISD, Cedar Hill ISD, Dallas ISD, Duncanville ISD, Grand Prairie ISD, and Mansfield ISD.

We expect to make decisions to close school for the day by 6:00 a.m. so that families and staff can plan accordingly.
